The Avian Angle: January Newsletter

2–3 minutes

Dear kindest reader,

Welcome to 2025! January swept in with an invigorating enthusiasm for a new year and a fresh start but also ebbed with extremely tough and challenging times. This is esp amplified since I live in California and the southern part of our state has been experiencing extreme and catastrophic wildfires which has been very devasting and sad.

In the midst of it all, I find myself thinking, is it still only January?? Indeed it is. The 31st to be exact. Since the month brought both ups and downs, I find it helpful to reflect that no matter the state of the world, it is important to keep your inner light shining bright (even if it is dimmed slightly). How can I help others in challenging times? How do I continue to have a positive impact on the people around me and in my community? How do I maintain, even if just for stability, my health and wellbeing when times get tough? One of those ways, I find, is to channel positivity to keep my spirits and light up for myself and those around me (including my kiddo). This includes continuing to do the things that help me feel better – exercising and doing my favorite hobbies of DIY, sewing, and my new found love for podcasting.

While it doesn’t take away from the need to support other, it does helps my inner peace. My hobbies allow me time to slow down, think, and reflect on the things that I appreciate. Here is a bit of a recap from January from all of the things we accomplished on the Avian Angle.

Warmly,

~ Missy

Home DIY Projects

This month, we kicked off the year with a storage project in my kiddo’s room. We took a look back at where we started (in this blog post and picture below), and continued working from there. I can’t wait to share the finished space in February.

Sewing Along

One of my new year intentions is to spend more time doing the things I love, which is sewing. I was proud to have accomplished some smaller but helpful sewing projects this month (summarized in this blog post). In the coming months, my goal is to build out my own Craft Shop, because why not have a side hustle passion project. Stay tuned for more developments there next month!

Books I’ve Read

I am so glad I was able to read three books this month (and by read, I mean listen to audiobooks because this mom is almost always multi-tasking). Check out my reviews of the three books I read this month, all of which I voted as a recommend or highly recommend for a read/adding to your book list!
